危なく引っかかるところだった。
PayPalからこういうメールが来たので、素直にログインしてしまったのだ。

It has come to our attention that your PayPal account information needs to be updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reduce the instance of fraud on our website. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update your personal records you will not run into any future problems with the online service.
However, failure to update your records will result in account suspension. Please update your records on or before November 5, 2006.
Once you have updated your account records, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

メールには何の疑いも持たなかったし、行った先のサイトにも疑いを持たず、もう少しでクレジットカードナンバーを打ち込んでしまうところだった。
幸い、その前にgoogleが警告メッセージを出してくれた、phisingの疑いあり、と。今までで一番googleに感謝。

後で本物のPayPalサイトを見たら、注意事項が色々書いてあった。その一つ。偽者は、メールの中にメンバーの名前が書いてない。！！
そんなことにも気づかなかったとは、われながら情けない。

自分はこういうのには引っかからないとたかをくくっていたが、とんでもない。こういう人間の方が危ないのだなと、しみじみ反省。
